Lumbini Tour

Lumbini Tour Lumbini Tour leads to one of the most important place of Buddhist pilgrimage, the Birth Place of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha, who was born in 623 BC, is situated in the Terai plains of the southern Nepal. The nativity site is marked by a stone pillar erected by Indian Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC inside the Sacred Garden to commemorate his pilgrimage to the sacred spot and which carries an inscription identifying the spot as the birthplace. This site has the privilege to be listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is being developed as the supreme Buddhist pilgrimage and a symbol of peace. There are foundations of temples dating from the 2nd century BC to the 9th century AD, and two modern temples: one in Tibetan style, the Dharma Swami Maharaja Buddha Temple, which was built by the king of Mustang, and one Nepalese Theravada style building, the Lumbini Buddha Vihar, which was built by the Nepalese government and contains Tibetan-style frescoes and Newari-style Buddhist images.

Outside the main complex, there are other temples built in the virtual styles of countries where Buddhism is a predominant religion, such as Chinese, Japanese, Sri Lanka and Burmese.
